The great thing about Tik Tok is that I don't have to wait for one of my friend's to tell me about the hottest new restaurants, I can learn about them over coffee while starting my day.

That is exactly what happened with Waterbury's La BoriChina, I found out about it by checking out a video from a foodie named @thedamtok who is a well-liked CT food reviewer whose real name is David Milton is so well respected he has over 1.2 Million and over 70 thousand followers. This is all great news for the restaurant because Milton loved it. This is what he had to say about La BoriChina:

"I can see why the line is out the door here. This tastes like hood Chinese food and that's not even an insult. I mean that in the best way possible."

La BoriChina is a Chinese/Puerto Rican fusion restaurant located at 105 Meriden Road in Waterbury in what used to be a Dunkin' location. La BoriChina describes itself as a "Latin Asian Fusion Food Service" that allows for online orders. Their menu items include:

  • Chicken Garlic/Pollo Alajillo
  • Fried Pork Chunks/Carne Frita
  • Tostones
  • Chow Mein
  • Mofongo
  • Fried Dumplings
  • Shrimp
  • Chicken Enchiladas

That is just to name a few of the items you can get and all of the food is available in delightful combo platters.

P.S. Milton specifically recommended the mofongo with the pork bites so that is what I'll be getting on my next trip to Waterbury. Millions of people seem to trust his taste buds so I'm gonna jump on board.

Some of Danbury + Brookfield's Best Churro Spots

A churro is a fried dough dessert found in Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. When covered in cinnamon and dipped in Dulce De Leche, it's one of my favorites. The question with anything worth having is, how far do I have to go to get it? If you live in Danbury or Brookfield, you are not going far at all. And, I'd put our churros in Danbury + Brookfield's up against any churro you can get anywhere. These are some of Danbury + Brookfield's Best Churro Spots.

A Curious Excursion in an Underground Brookfield Tunnel

Recently, I was having a discussion with a friend of mine, I told this person I'd accessed some caves and tunnels in my hometown of Brewster, NY which is just over the NY/CT State Line. He knows how much I love local history, and saw how excited I was about this journey. He told me there was an area of Brookfield, CT that I needed to see, one that most residents have never seen. He told me about a tunnel, one that was not far away from where we were sitting. I made note of the conversation and bookmarked the destination for a future trip.
