Stay Alert For DMV Scam Texts Targeting Connecticut Residents
Don't fall for it Connecticut residents, although the text message you've received says it's from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, it's a fake.

Nearly two months after the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles issued a press release warning residents of Connecticut about a text message/phone call scam we're still getting them. Quite a few of my friends took to their social media over the weekend trying to warn others after receiving the text you see in the photo above. I got this from a phone number that I've cropped out around 3PM this past Friday, and I deleted it immediately. You should too.
The tell for me was the second paragraph - 'According to the Underground Storage Tank Indemnification Act, Section 705(e) - etc. etc. etc. Now, I may have passed by one of those spiffy new speed cameras in Washington over the past month during the temporary closure of 202 in Bantam, so a part of me was initially curious to find out exactly what 'Outstanding traffic ticket' I may have racked up, but 'Underground Storage Tank Indemnification Act'? Never heard if that, so I knew this text was a fugazi.
What Should You Do If You Receive a Similar Text?
Delete and Block. Simple as that. The Connecticut DMV DOES NOT contact Connecticut residents about any outstanding issues or fines via texts or phone calls. Keep your attention focused on your mailbox for official DMV business and ignore the texts and phone calls originating from an area code other than 203 and 860.
