You see some of the places around Connecticut that go viral for specific things and sometimes it makes me hesitant to visit because I'm not sure if it's going to turn into a tourist trap or not. I'm all for visiting cool places, but not when there's 2 million people there.

The weekend we just had was absolutely beautiful. You couldn't ask for better weather, which in turn, means everyone was out and about and doing all of the fall activities (myself included). I wrote an article back in August about a unique cider mill that had so much attention around it and was considered the best in the state. After looking into it, I knew I needed to make a trip this year to see what it was all about.

I took a trip to Hogan's Cider Mill in Burlington this Saturday and boy let me tell you - it did not disappoint! It was a beautiful day so of course there were a lot of people, but never once did it feel crowded or jam packed. I did not wait in long lines for anything and there was no one on top of each other. We kept mentioning time and time again that their crowd control was superior.

I had to get the number one thing we came for - their "drunken doughnut" drink which was a spiked cider with a fresh apple cider donut on top. Since they looked so aesthetically pleasing, I was not expecting them to taste all that great and boy oh boy was I wrong. The drinks and especially the doughnut were phenomenal. They also have a non-alcoholic version you can purchase.

If you weren't into the ciders, they had Kent Falls Brewing beer as well as a few other drink options. There were corn hole boards set up in the field, a mini golf course you can use, food trucks, pretty much whatever you needed. You are also allowed to bring in your own food to eat.

It honestly was a way better experience than I thought it was going to be. I was expecting a packed place, long lines, and a subpar apple cider doughnut and I was completely wrong about all of that. I now know this will be a yearly stop for me every fall season and I'm so looking forward to it.

If you're ever in the area of Burlington, or if you want to make the drive, I highly suggest checking out Hogan's Cider Mill. You'll thank yourself later. Especially for the apple cider doughnuts.
