This should be an exciting weekend for the pickers and thrifty in Connecticut, two of the largest cities and towns in Western Connecticut will hosting 'Town-Wide Tag Sales' in the near future.

Some of the luckiest purchases I've ever made were buying second or third-hand goods from someone that didn't need it anymore. Today is June 12, 2025, it's not officially Summer until the 20th, so this weekend is a great time to get that Spring cleaning done, and if you live in New Milford and Torrington, even more so. Both are hosting 'Town-Wide Tag Sales' over the next two weekends.

First up, did you know that New Milford is the largest town in the State of Connecticut in terms of land area? With nearly 63.7 miles of space and a population of nearly 30,000 residents there is plenty of room to set up the contents of your dwelling onto your front lawn. New Milford Parks & Recreation is hosting the New Milford Town-Wide Tag sale on Saturday, June 14 at the John Pettibone Community Center on Pickett District Road from 8AM until Noon, and there will be multiple tag sales across town at private residences. If it rains, participants are welcome to set up inside the Community Center. Pre-registration is required, and there is a $25 fee.

My hometown is T-Town, and Torrington will host their 10th annual City-Wide Tag Sale Extravaganza on Saturday, June 12. Torrington is going big for it's 10th annual with an all-day event, there are no posted hours, and it's a $15 fee for single households to register.

I'll be on the lookout for old sports cards, they're my favorite items in the cheap bins.

Three Cities in Connecticut Desperately in Need of Trader Joe's

News broke over social media in the past 48 hours that a Trader Joe's will soon be coming to Hamden. I think the company made a good choice, but there are two other cities around the state that are just as desperate for one of their stores.

The Best 'Made in Litchfield County' Products I've Tried Recently

I love supporting local businesses, it's vital in 2025 to try to devote as much of our income to our friends and neighbors, if not, the wave of closures will continue. I bought four products made in Litchfield County in the past few months that really impressed me. On a National stage, I believe they are as good, if not superior, to the name brands.
