A few radio stations here in Connecticut have made the decision to temporarily flip musical formats through the month of December and only play Christmas/Holiday music until the big day. 'Tis the season for more Mariah Carey, are you happy about it?

On my ride home I flipped around the FM dial and heard Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas is You' on two Connecticut radio stations at the same time. The star of Glitter was wailing away on WRCH and WEBE, while WZBG in Litchfield was cranking out Bing Crosby's 'It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas'. Both were pleasant, but after 15 minutes of nothing but Christmas music, I was switching stations. Do you find yourself doing that too?

I'm not a Grinch, I still love "Christmas Wrapping' by the Waitresses, 'Santa and His Old Lady' from Cheech and Chong, 'Christmas Canon' from TSO, and U2's 'It's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Those are just some of the tunes that we will selectively play on i95 over the next few weeks.

I can tell you that we will not be going all-Christmas at the Home of Rock and Roll i95 yet again this year. You will hear all of the Boston, Zeppelin, and Golden Earring that you've come to know and love from us. You might start hearing the occasional Christmas song once an hour soon, but we have the wisdom and patience to wait until the week of Christmas to give you two or more an hour. Christmas Day? Yeah, we will let it fly. I want to assure you that the only Carey that you will hear on 95.1 is Ethan.
