Three Great Places to Enjoy Delicious Birria in Litchfield County

I'm relatively new to it, but I can't stop eating birria tacos, birria burritos, and birria pizza lately, I'm lucky because there are three great new Mexican restaurants in Litchfield County that make the good stuff.

I first became aware of Birria - which is a Mexican slow-cooker stew made with beef or goat at Los Garcia Mexican Fusion on East Main Street in Waterbury. Los Garcia was the first authentic Mexican food truck, not Tex-Mex, to open my tastebuds to the use of a wider variety of spices, sauces, and vegetables that us Connecticut Yankees got used to eating from Senior Panchos, Taco Bell, and Puerto Vallarta.

A brand new place called Speedy Tacos has just opened up next to the 99 Restaurant in Torrington Plaza, and we've been enjoying their delicious Birria Tacos the past three Friday evenings. Speedy Tacos also offers a Birria Taco bowl, Birria burritos. Speedy Tacos is located in Torrington Plaza at 3 S. Main Street, and their phone number is 860-201-4976.

I have to once again offer up high praise for the chefs and kitchen staff at The Market - Bantam, I picked up a container of their Birria before the holidays and it was excellent. I haven't seen it in their to-go section or the deli hot case recently, but I was impressed.

The last place I'll recommend for great Birria is La Guera Cantina on Rt. 63 in Morris, they make a Birria Pizza that is absolutely outstanding, and I can't recommend a cup of the elote any higher. Absolutely delicious.
