There are criminals lurking around every corner, just waiting for you to let your guard down for a moment. Keep this in mind because I've just received a scam warning from my bank, and you should hear about this too.

Do you even answer your phone anymore? I rarely do, but I did yesterday when I received a phone call from 'Thomaston Savings Bank'. I've never received a direct phone call from them before, so I answered the phone with skepticism. The tell-tale sign for me was the delay in response after I said 'Hello", if there is anything more than a two second pause, I hang up, and that's what I did. Well....

According to a legitimate e-mail that I've just received from Thomaston Savings Bank, they are receiving reports of a rise in scams where criminals have been reaching out to clients pretending to be calling from the 'Thomaston Savings Bank Fraud Department' claiming that suspicious activity had occurred on your account and they need to verify your credentials or account numbers to stop or refund the fraudulent activity. As I saw with my own eyes, these criminals have set up their telephone caller ID to identify themselves as 'Thomaston Savings Bank'. Be careful, it's not.

The email goes on to say that while real bank employees may contact you about suspicious activity on your account they will never ask for your pin, password, account number, or any other private information. Do what I did, hang up. I didn't contact the bank because I get maybe 5-10 other "Warranty' or 'Pending Loan' fraudulent voicemails every day. If you feel like your accounts may have been compromised, change your password, and contact Thomaston Savings Bank at 860-283-1874.

Ranking the Five Worst Parking Lots on Main Street in Watertown

Watertown has a population of just over 22,000 according to the most recent cencus, and it seems like everyone in town goes nowhere except Main Street (Rt. 63). Parking lots are always busy, and space is tight. I do not like driving through these five parking lots in particular.
