Are you proud to live in the Hat City? Or are you embarrassed to admit that you lay your head down in the Rubber City? That's understandable. Lots of towns and cities have adopted a slogan, a positioning statement, or something infamous that was invented there as their nickname. Some of Connecticut's city and town nicknames make perfect sense, while others are stinkers.

I grew up in the Brass City/Dirty Water, and I now live in Borington/T-Town. The Brass City has a better sound to it, right? Did you know that Connecticut has a Bedding Capital, the Copper City, and another that is proud to call itself the Geographic Center of Connecticut? Here's my thoughts on three of the best, and three of the worst nicknames that cities and towns proudly call themselves.

I was born in The Brass City, and now I live in Borington, you know them as Waterbury and Torrington. Both nicknames are a good fit, in my opinion, but some cities and towns in Connecticut have done a much better job, or failed miserably.
