The Air is Thick With Scam Loan Phone Application Calls Over Connecticut
There's a new scam going around, and the creepy people behind a new one bothering us every day is targeting Connecticut.
Can you smell the scam in the air? It's thick with unsavory characters looking to prey on those of us who accept financial responsibility. Have you received numerous voicemails from someone identifying themselves as 'Jessica' over the past couple of months? You're not alone, I've been getting a couple a day. The messages I've received have been about a pending loan application, or some kind of financial offer to get me out of debt. The good news is I'm not behind on any payment, nor am I applying for any kind of financial assistance, the bad news? Many are, and have fallen for this scam.

Here's a few things to keep in mind before you answer the next phone call or text you receive about a loan application. According to ftc.gov, the best thing that you can do is ignore the call, hang up, or just delete the text or email. If you do open the scam email or text, don't click on any links, and especially don't click on the 'Unsubscribe' button. If you click on a link, the scammer could gain access and control over your device.
You could also do what I do with every phone call I receive over the past 15 years, let it go to voicemail, if it's important the caller will leave a message, if not? Delete. You could start blocking phone numbers too, but the scammers have a way to circumvent that.
