Suspect Runs, K9s Win: Police Track Down Man in Southbury
According to a release from the Connecticut State Police, a suspect who allegedly threatened someone with a weapon in Southbury didn’t get very far before running into some highly trained backup.

The incident happened Friday night, March 6, around 9:10 p.m., when state police were called in to help the Southbury Police Department track down a man who had taken off on foot after a disturbance. Police say the suspect had reportedly threatened a victim with an edged weapon before fleeing the scene.
That’s when the K9 units got involved.
Trooper Cole and his bloodhound, K9 Teufel, started tracking the suspect, with additional support from Trooper DeFeo and K9 Nala right behind them. The dogs followed the trail for about a mile, which is honestly bad news if you’re the guy trying to get away.
Eventually, K9 Teufel located the suspect. At that point, the teams shifted positions, allowing Trooper DeFeo and K9 Nala to step in and issue commands for the suspect to give himself up. And just like that—it was over.

The suspect surrendered without any further issues and was taken into custody by Southbury Police, where he’s now facing multiple charges.
Moral of the story? If you’re thinking about running from the police… maybe don’t do it when they’ve got dogs on the job. I wish I could have witnessed the takedown. I love watching animals attack humans making bad decisions (allegedly).
