Connecticut’s Most Popular Food Item at the Big E is Missing This Year
The wife and I planned to attend the Big E on Tuesday, September 24th, until we found out the legendary Maine Super Stuffed Baked Potatoes are unavailable at the Big E this year.
For 20 years, Danny Bell whipped up these legendary stuffed baked potatoes to fairgoers at the Big E until tragedy struck. Bell unexpectedly passed away in June. According to masslive.com, his oversized and fully loaded baked potatoes were consistently ranked as the best-tasting and best bargain at the Big E.
Not only were Danny Bell's baked potatoes legendary at the Big E, but so was Danny. The co-manager said Bell was “an amazing vendor” whose lines would “wrap around the building” with his reputation for the large potatoes made with fresh ingredients.
Bell's vendor space was located by the Connecticut State House Building, and to honor the legendary restaurateur, a ginormous banner was erected where his vendor's space used to be. Bell owned Danny's Little Taste of Texas in South Windsor, Connecticut.
