Amy Poehler Is No Longer Banned From Connecticut, Per AG Tong
If you watched the latest episode of Saturday Night Live this past weekend you may have heard our state mentioned twice during the opening moments of the show. Connecticut has long been a presence on the set of SNL and as a butt to many of their jokes. For years I loved seeing the Connecticut shoreline stops of Metro North in the background of every musical guest, that little bit of localism makes you feel more connected to the pulse of everything pop culture, right?
Well, this time SNL staff writers, our Attorney General was watching and has officially lifted this self-imposed ban. If you missed the joke, Poehler joked that she was banned, as well as her special brand of tequila drinks, from the State of Connecticut.
Just prior to Poehler's monologue, SNL's cold open featured a depiction of Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal grilling Poehler as Pam Bondi before a Senate Judiciary Committee.
Well, we can tell you from a visit that we received from Connecticut Attorney General William Tong earlier this year that our Attorney General has a great sense of humor, and has officially responded to Poehler on his Official social media page. According to AG Tong's post - "Amy Poehler, Pursuant to my authority as Attorney General under Connecticut General Statutes 3-135, the ban is hereby lifted and you are permitted to enter Connecticut."
Poehler and Tina Fey recently performed together at the Mohegan Sun Arena, it's possible but unlikely that her hybrid tequila soda was introduced to the crowd then?
