The dining scene in Downtown Torrington has seen lots of change since I moved there in 2021, and I just found out another of my local favorites is permanently shutting down.

When I moved to Torrington from Waterbury, I was disappointed in the local dining scene, especially in downtown. One year ago this week in 2024, remember Bachi's? Also, Stop & Shop announced that they were going to permanently close their location off of Water and High Streets, we've watched Cafe 38 move into new digs, and there's the new Vega's. Ready for the bad news?

Salt 2.0 in Torrington is Permanently Closing it's Doors

One place that I found to have consistently good food was Salt 2.0, located right next to the Warner Theatre. Well, I just received an e-mail from Brook & Andy, the owners of Salt 2.0 in Torrington and Brookfield, and Sage and Salt in Litchfield, announcing that although four years of Main Street in Torrington has been enjoyable, it's - "Ultimately not the best fit for our concept going forward".

Salt 2.0 in Torrington was a massive space, similar in size to their neighbor Sass's, and they've held many comedy nights and special events in recent years in order to drum up paying customers, but... My wife and I really enjoyed their Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla and loved the reduced-priced happy hour offerings.

There was no closing date announced in the email, but the owners do thank each and every one of us who supported them over the past four years. What's coming next for the space? I'll keep watching, while I enjoy my buffalo chicken quesadilla from Salt 2.0 - Brookfield.

Step Inside Goshen's Thorncrest Farm & Milk House Chocolates

You may not know about the wonderful dairy products that are tucked away in the woods near the Litchfield/Goshen border, but you should. Before this past weekend I've never heard of Thorncrest Farm & Milk House Chocolates in Goshen, Connecticut, and now I will never forget it. Take a peek at what I found on Town Hill Road

This is What a Solid Day's Rain Does to the Naugatuck River

I live along the Naugatuck River in Torrington, and I've watched the horrible news that has come out of the Texas floods recently. Could we experience the flooding that happened along the Naugatuck River in 1955 again? Here's what just a solid day of rain does to this normally docile waterway.
