According to the official Prospect Police Facebook account, on Sunday December 13, 2020, at 2 PM, a woman was putting air into her tires at the Mobil in Prospect, and while she was doing that, a man entered her vehicle and attempted to steal her purse, and other items, that were in her vehicle. She screamed, and the male suspect fled the scene in a white vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, a similar incident occurred at a gas station in Naugatuck, with the same white vehicle reportedly involved. After an investigation, it was determined that the white vehicle had been reported stolen out of Meriden.

Brazen, daytime robberies are certainly not the norm in the area. I just went through the Naugatuck Police arrest reports for the past week, and as usual, trying to commit Larceny from the Walmart on New Haven Road is the most popular activity among the criminal element in the Naugatuck Valley.

The Prospect Police go on in their post to remind everyone that due to increased crime here in Connecticut, to be aware of your surroundings at all times, and to lock your doors, and take your keys, every time that you leave your vehicle. It only takes a second for someone to take advantage of your distraction. Stay vigilant.
