Please Be Careful Bow Hunters of Torrington, This One Came Close
I normally don't write generic pleas to sportsmen and women, but I found something on my lawn that I've never encountered before - An arrow. It wasn't one of those razor-tipped killers that Rambo used, but it freaked me out.
I live along the Naugatuck River in the South end of Torrington, and I feel safe there, but I found the arrow you see in the photo above right outside of my sliding glass door. I'm assuming it was someone hunting the rabbits, turkey, or deer that frequent my neighborhood, and I don't mind that. I'm not against anyone hunting for food, and I'm thankful for those that thin the herd during the season. One less deer on 202 at 4AM does not bother me in the least, and I've had many a dark morning picking up garbage after someone's dinner rifled through my cans.
According to ct.gov, The Fall 2024 Deer and Turkey Archery Season is well underway in Connecticut, and depending on what, and where you are hunting for, it runs until December 31, 2024, or January 31, 2025. According to the CT DEEP, the best opportunities to harvest deer are in the Southwest corner of Connecticut, and many of the shoreline towns, especially for bowhunters.
Hunting Black Bears in Connecticut in 2024, you ask? No, it is still not permitted according to The State of The Bears 2024 on ct.gov. It is also illegal in Connecticut, as of 10-1-23, to feed bears. I only say this because I resemble a bear from short distances bow hunters of Torrington, please, I'm harmless.
