Newtown Savings Bank Hosting Drive-Through Food Collection
As the pandemic rages on into it's seventh month, the term "food insecurity" is being bandied about much too often. It's impossible for some to find affordable, basic food. I wrote an article yesterday about Waterbury's efforts to feed those in need with a free food giveaway in town, and today, I came across an event that will help out the less-fortunate living in Newtown that I'd like to share with you.
Newtown Savings Bank will be hosting a "Drive and Drop" Food Collection, at all of their branches, on Friday and Saturday, October 23-24, 2020. They'll be collecting non-perishable food items on Friday from 1-4PM, and on Saturday from 9AM-noon.
Some of the items that they've listed for suggested donations are:
- Canned Fruits and Vegetables
- Soup
- Rice
- Pasta
- Tomato Products
- Juice Boxes
- Peanut Butter and Jelly
- Cleaning Supplies
- Personal Products
- Dog/Cat Food
All 14 Newtown Savings Bank branch locations will be participating in this event, you can drop off your donation at any of the following Newtown Savings Bank locations:
