Dave King's social media accounts always seem to get my attention. Such was the case recently when I saw his photo called "Super Moon over The Bleachery Train Trestle in New Milford."

He'd captured the night sky over New Milford in a way you don't often see. It was clear, crisp and I felt like I was standing right there. I reached out to Dave and asked him about his photos.

Tell me a little about you?

Many people know me as a musician as I have performed at countless bars and restaurants in the greater Danbury area for more years than I care to admit. I have also recorded and released several albums, the most recent being “Into The Deep Blue” in 2020.

When did you start taking pictures, and why?
In addition to my music, I have also developed a strong interest in photography in recent years. It first started out as an excuse to get outside and do some hiking and enjoy the outdoors - even during the winter months. I NEVER went outside much in the winter until I got into photography. Now it is one of my favorite seasons to get out and take photos!
I am primarily interested in landscape photography, but I also dabble in other genres too. Night Sky photography is fun because it is particularly challenging. In order to get a good shot of a Super Moon or the Milky Way, you need a lot of elements to come together. Not only do you need the proper equipment, but you also need the right weather, location, time of year, etc. Without all of these elements aligning, the photo will fail.

Are the pics all New Milford related?
Since I live in New Milford, many of my photos are taken in the New Milford area and surrounding towns. New Milford is a great town with a strong sense of community and offers a lot of beautiful locations for photography.

Danbury Police Say They Busted Repeat Criminal Busted With Drugs, Guns + Cash

Danbury Police arrested Joel Albarran on Thursday (6/16/22) and say they found illegal drugs, guns and cash after a search. Albarran's bond was set at $250,000 and he faces the following charges:

New Milford Man’ s Chilling Texas Chainsaw Massacre Truck Seen in Monroe

This past weekend’s (6/4/22) Barnum Festival in Monroe, CT was a success by anyone’s measure. It was a place to go see classic cars of all kinds, have some food and see live music. In that sea of automobile madness was a terrifying thing. There was a vehicle with a recognizable and chilling theme, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Truck. I spoke to the truck's owner Sam Gentile from New Milford, to find out how this came together, and why.

Under the Bridge – Danbury’s Hidden Art Project

Danbury, CT has a lot of murals which have been sanctioned by the city and then there is the illegal graffiti. The Hat City has its fair share of illegal graffiti but most of it, is off the beaten-path. It’s near the train tracks, and under bridges, it’s in places most residents will never go. I intentionally seek these places out. I like to go to places most people would find scary, grimy or even dangerous. I’m willing to climb over downed trees, step on broken glass and dodge rusting metal to find my way to a place I was never meant to see.
