One Connecticut City Just Got Crowned A Fall Getaway Champion
Connecticut Makes the List of the 6 Best Places in the U.S. for "The Perfect Fall-Themed Retreat"
According to MSN and Her Agenda, there are six places across the U.S. that are perfect for a fall-themed getaway — and one of them is right here in the Nutmeg State.

Now, if you’re guessing Cornwall, Kent, New Milford, or Washington Depot, you’d be wrong. The folks at Her Agenda claim the Elm City — yes, New Haven — is the spot for fall perfection.
Here are their six selections:
- Gatlinburg, TN
- Leavenworth, WA
- Asheville, NC
- Burlington, VT — AMEN, brother!
- New Haven, CT — You sure, bro?
- Galena, IL
New Haven wouldn’t exactly be my first pick when it comes to cozy fall vibes, but here’s why Her Agenda says it belongs on the list:
“Just outside the city and you’ve got leaf-loving spots like Sleeping Giant State Park and East Rock Park, both perfect for a casual hike or picnic. Bishop’s Orchards in nearby Guilford, Conn., offers a wholesome fall day with a corn maze, pumpkins, food trucks, and photo ops that scream fall mood board. Road trip opp: Connecticut’s ‘Quiet Corner’ with quaint villages, antique shops, and more.”
Fair points, honestly. I’ll give them Sleeping Giant, East Rock, and Bishop’s Orchards — those are certified fall hits. Still, if I’m packing up for a Connecticut leaf tour, I might lean toward the Litchfield Hills over New Halen but to each their own.

P.S. I know I’m in the minority here, but this fall weather has been absolute trash. I get that most people are loving these 88-degree days, but not me. I wait all year for this majestic season — I want crisp air, crunchy leaves underfoot, and chimney smoke floating through the neighborhood. If I wanted to wear shorts in October, I’d move to Florida, get a job at Publix, and take up methamphetamine.
