WTF? Why the face?

If you ask a CT resident why the frown? They may blame the state for the state of their face. That could be the case if you believe the new study from Wallet Hub that indicates we may be bummed out. "The Hub" set out to find the Happiest Cities in America, in doing so, they also reveal the places that are not as happy by comparison.

When it comes to Wallet Hub city studies they use the 182 largest cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities. This means that Bridgeport and New Haven act as the Nutmeg State's representative cities and while that may be negatively impacting our scores, it is what we have to work with.

When all was said and done, Fremont, CA turned out to the Happiest City in America.  Bridgeport was #68 and New Haven was #105.

Here is the rest of the Top 5

1. Fremont, CA

2. San Jose, CA

3. Madison, WI

4. Overland Park, KS

5. San Francisco, CA

Our neighbors in New York, NY were #57 and they actually lost to Yonkers at #18.

So how do they come to these conclusions? They weigh a variety of factors including:

  • Depression Rate
  • Adequate Sleep Rate
  • Suicide Rate
  • Work Hours
  • Income Growth
  • Divorce Rate
  • Sports Participation

I love studies because it allows us to point to something we already know and say "SEE, I told you!" And, I did tell you. I like to think we have the pulse of the people on the I-95 Morning Show and for awhile now the people have been shouting that they're not happy.

Connecticut has so many wonderful characteristics that make it a place that you want to stay but it appears our leaders want us to leave. The cost of living is astronomical, the conditions of our roads are atrocious and our schools need a lot of work.

The good news is, you have a pack of miserable bastards (Ethan, Lou & Large Dave) to get you through your morning. Don't miss a single edition of the I-95 Morning Show but if you do, you can catch us on-demand with the podcast on Apple & Spotify.

We spoke about the Wallet Hub Happiness Study on the I-95 Morning Show on Wednesday (3/8/23). Listen below to find out what CT city we should give up on.

Here are some real things you can try when a friend is feeling down in the dumps according to Science of People:

  • If you were a booger, I’d pick you first.
  • You are not someone I pretend not to see in public.
  • Are you a loan? Because you’ve got my interest.

Those are kind of lame so try mine, I say, "I'll buy you some booze if you quit being a bitch about it and fix your stupid face."

P.S. The numbers do actually indicate that Bridgeport and New Haven might be part of the problem because Wallet Hub ranked us one of the 10 happiest States in America back in September of 2022. So these numbers we see from B-Port and New Haven are not really repping the state properly.

Top 6 Reasons For an Argument on CT's Candlewood Lake

Candlewood Lake is a glorious place to be on a Saturday or Sunday during the summer. You get to look at the rolling hills, soak in the sun and relax. If relaxing is not your jam you can do some water sports or just bug-out (my favorite). Candlewood Lake is popular for a reason it's a lot of fun. However, just like any place the vibe can be ruined by certain behaviors. Some might say, what is there to argue about? Here are 6 things I've seen people argue over on Candlewood Lake.
