Middlebury and New Canaan Among 6 Connecticut TD Bank Branch Closures
A bank location in Middlebury that my family and I have personally been using for over 30 years is soon going to permanently close, as well as 5 other branch locations around the state of Connecticut. According to WFSB.com, TD Bank will close 6 Connecticut TD Bank branches over the coming months -
- 503 Middlebury Road (Rt. 64) Middlebury
- 272 Elm St, New Canaan
- 200 New Hartford Ave, Winsted
- 128 Amity Road, Woodbridge
- 636 Campbell Ave, West Haven
- 2035 Broad St, Hartford
The closures are all slated to take effect by April 23, 2021. Overall, TD Bank will close 81 of 1,223 branch locations along the East Coast.
According to the article, TD Bank Corporate Associate Paige Wilkins said "As one of the Top 10 banks in the US, TD is continually evolving the way we serve our customers and communities to best meet changing customer expectations and behaviors, remain competitive, and drive long-term growth. We strive to deliver an optimal mix of convenient TD Bank locations and digital banking products and services that are second to none. With those goals in mind, we regularly evaluate our existing TD Bank stores and new locations. We have already begun notifying impacted customers, our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible for them."
As I scrolled through the news researching for this article, the news of the mass TD Bank branch closure is rippling through the Northeast, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont as banking customers are already hitting the social networks to denounce their local branch closure. My grandmother and mother were customers at the Middlebury branch location on Rt. 64, and I was too, since the days of Bank Boston.
