311 Omakase Shines As Boston’s First Michelin Star Restaurant
Hey kid! Can you heah tha wicked whoops of joy coming out of Southie today? That's the sound of the owners of Boston's 311 Omakase after hearing the news that they've received the city's first Michelin Star ever.
That's big news in the culinary world. What the hell is a Michelin Star? What, you haven't watched The Bear or the Food Network? Michelin, yes, that tire company, is also one of the world's foremost authorities, critics, whatever, of restaurants, and they award one, two, or three Michelin Stars to restaurants offering 'Outstanding' cooking. Michelin takes five things into account when awarding their stars: Ingredient Quality, Harmony of Flavors, Mastery of Culinary Techniques, How the Chef's Personality Shines Through Their Cuisine, and, most importantly, Consistency.

A Chef receiving a Michelin Star is winning an Oscar, it's the most respected and highest honor in the culinary world, well, besides that James Beard award and the Crazies, right? New York City is where we've had to go from Connecticut to visit one of these mystical awarded restaurants, but now Boston has its first.
311 Omakase is a two-year-old Japanese sushi restaurant located in the South End of Boston at 605 Tremont Street, and they've been awarded the City of Boston's very first Michelin Star. What is on 311 Omakase's menu? There isn't one, the definition of Omakase is 'A meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef'. What I can tell you is expect to pay $250 a person to eat a multi-course sushi extravaganza.
