According to amsmeteors.org, earth is getting buzzed by three meteor showers at once during the first week of August 2024. Right now we're passing through two: The Southern delta Aquariids, and the alpha Capricornids meteor showers. Keep your eyes to the South to see the delta Aquariids, which may appear faint as they pass by at 25 miles per second. You might be able to see Southern delta Aquariids meteors until August 21, 2024. We will be passing through the dust cloud left behind by the alpha Capricornids meteors until August 15, 2024. These meteors will be traveling by at a slower speed of 14 miles per second, but alpha Capricornids have been known to produce incredible streaks of fire as they pass.

Normally, you might see 50-75 during the peak days pass by at 37 miles per second. Space.com reports that the 2024 Perseids event will be a good one, due to the fact that the moon will be around halfway illuminated in the night sky, giving us a better view. Open up your moonroof over the next couple of weeks as you're driving during the night, you just may see a meteor.
