Just in Time For Winter 2024, Comfort is Back in Connecticut
When we look back at 2024, what do you think will be considered the greatest comeback of the year? The President of the United States? The New York Jets? Nah, something even greater has come back from the dead after almost two years, and you may not have noticed.
The last time I was able to buy a box of Ronzoni Pastina was at LaBonne's Market in Watertown on Valentine's Day 2023, and I've choked down Barilla, San Giorgio, and Prince pastina since. Ronzoni obviously had a grand redesign in mind when they announced at the end of December 2022 that they were discontinuing their no. 155 Pastina cut of pasta. Why? A focus group said it bothered them? No, the discontinuation was blamed on a supplier issue, a battle that ultimately led to Ronzoni Pastina extinction. Well, here's your early Christmas present - Ronzoni Pastina has quietly been resurrected, and the re-branded boxes of the classic no. 155 cut are in our grocery stores already.
Indoor flu season? The common cold, or the dreaded 'Rona? Take comfort my paisan, Winter 2024-Spring 2025 will be filled with the warmth of al dente Ronzoni stars once again.
There was no fanfare, no huge product re-launch, but Ronzoni Pastina is once again a featured product that is available on Ronzoni.com. Described on the website as 'Beloved Star', pastina is literally the star in your Chicken & Stars soup. My favorite way to serve them is with butter, salt, and Parmesan cheese, al dente. Oh, they're a wonderful dish of tiny pasta comfort. Stop & Shop, Big Y, Caraluzzi's, LaBonne's, The Market CT, and Stew Leonard's are open.
