Hyde Park Police Rescue Dog Stuck in Storm Drain
2 Hyde Park Police Officers are being hailed heroes after a rescue on Saturday August 15th, 2026.
Our local first responders are just going above and beyond for humans, but for our furry family members too.
According to a statement released by the Town of Hyde Park Police Department, on August 15th Officers Wolf-Davidson and Fein "responded to a report of a dog trapped inside a storm drain."
The statement goes on to share that the officers were able to quickly locate the dog "and could hear him barking for inside the drain." That's when they jumped into action.
In the press release they write "With assistance from several good Samaritans at the scene, our patrol officers were able to safely rescue the dog and reunite him with his owner."
They add:
A special thank you to Officer Wolf-Davidson for going above and beyond, entering a very smelly storm drain, taking a few nips to the hand, and doing whatever it took to get this pup out safely.
The statement goes on to thank the bystanders as well for helping the Hyde Park Police Officers, "The teamwork displayed on this call is exactly what community policing is all about."

Situation involving dogs, cats and other animals always pull at the heartstrings.
These animals, aren't just pets but their truly family members. So it's no surprise that the comment section below the video on social media is full of thanks.
One comment read "This made my day and restored my faith in humanity. Thank you HP law enforcement- you are incredible!!!!!"
Another comment went on to say:
Officer Wolf went above and beyond. He showed up quickly to the scene shortly after being called. The dog had run off and could not be located when he arrived, as she had run into the thick brush and weeds. He could have left, but instead, he stayed and searched through the dense brush. This was all before he entered the storm drain and was bitten several times. We are so proud to have him serve our community! Big thank you to both of these officers!
Once again, a job well done by Officer Wolf-Davidson and Officer Fein!
