Heading South from CT? Say Goodbye to These 8 Unique Food and Grocery Finds!
From the time I was 13 until about 25, I vacationed in Florida every year with my family, and we made some of my favorite memories. In my late 20s, I moved to Florida and found that the real-life differences were a lot to get used to.
When you're in town for 7-14 days, it's all about the beach and fun. When you set up your life there, the culture shock can be real, and one of the most startling differences from the Northeast to the Southeast is the food.
If you're headed down South this summer for a vacation or possibly relocating, you might want to pause for a moment and think about the food you're used to. The South is heavy on BBQ, fried food, and seafood (prepared way differently than ours). If there are some things you just cannot live without, you might want to scroll through my list of the 8 things you probably won't be able to get your hands on in the South.

Look, there are exceptions to every rule but the fact of the matter is, it's a way different culinary experience down south. If you found a place in Florida that makes food the same way you remember it from the North, you hit the lotto. Down there you'll be surrounded with a ton of options but very few that look like what we have.
I can throw a rock from where I'm sitting and hit a pizza place that is struggling but would blow the doors off of anything in Florida or SC.
