Gary Hoey Celebrates 30 Years Of Rockin’ Holiday Tunes
Gary Hoey has become a holiday tradition all his own. For 30 years, his Ho Ho Hoey Christmas series has given the season a rock-and-roll edge, and now he’s back with a new album, Ho Ho Hoey: Christmas Time Is Here. He’s marking three decades of touring, shredding, and transforming Christmas classics into high-octane anthems. We recently caught up with him to talk about the album and his upcoming November 30 show at The Kate in Old Saybrook, CT.

Our favorite moment of the chat was when Gary revealed that his son has been recording and touring with him.
Lou: Now you're putting us in the Christmas spirit.
Gary: "Thank you. Actually, my son Ian played on that particular song. He did a great job on the album as a guest on that particular track."
Lou: Oh, that's great. That has got to be cool — everything coming full circle, you doing this all these years, so much so that you're now playing with your son. That's got to be a good feeling, I would imagine?
Gary: "Oh it's amazing. He's been playing with me here over the years, but now he's been touring with me, he's part of the whole band. He used to come out as a guest, but now he knows the songs and I keep challenging him. You know, we keep doing stuff where I'm like, OK, I want you to harmonize with me on this part of a song, and I'm thinking he's not going to keep up with me — and he keeps up with me."
