A Strange Device In Danbury Leads To A Police Investigation
According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, an arrest has reportedly been made following a strange situation that began with what police initially believed could be a suspicious device at the Rizzo Parking Garage.

Police say the incident dates back to November 6, 2025, when officers responded to the garage after someone reportedly discovered an electronic device attached to a wall. Because the location is connected to a hospital, authorities say they took immediate precautions. The area was secured while the Danbury Fire Department, the city’s Office of Emergency Management, and the Stamford Bomb Squad were called in to investigate.
Safety protocols at Danbury Hospital were also reportedly activated while officials worked to determine what the device was.
According to police, the Stamford Bomb Squad later determined that the device was not hazardous. After that, Danbury Police detectives took over the investigation to figure out how it ended up there.

During the course of that investigation, detectives say they determined the device was allegedly a GPS tracking system that had been placed on a vehicle as part of what police describe as a domestic stalking situation. Investigators say the vehicle’s owner reportedly discovered the device, removed it without knowing exactly what it was, and placed it in the parking garage. The device was later spotted and reported, which prompted the original emergency response.
Following the investigation, police say they arrested German Lopez-Ortiz, 30, of Danbury. He has been charged with electronic stalking under Connecticut General Statute 53a-181f. Authorities say he was held on a $100,000 bond.
