There are a few words that immediately make me pay attention to whatever they're written in, a few of those words are Sfogliatelle, Zeppole, and Pizza Fritta. At that moment, I know that you're talking about an Italian street fair food, and I'm in. I was scrolling through my Facebook feed when those magic words suddenly appeared, and I'm here to let you know that Saturday, August 22, 2020, from 1-7PM, Amerigo Vespucci Lodge and Anthony's Lake Club, at 10 Christopher Columbus Ave in Danbury, are going to be selling my favorite Italian favorites take out/curbside at an event they're dubbing "A Taste of Italy". They could honestly call it "Don't come here Large Dave", and I'd still go there. That's how desperate I am for something different to eat, like street fair food. We're so desperately missing this simple cuisine without our festivals and fairs this year.  Here's the post that I just saw:

Meatball, Chicken Parm, and Sausage & Pepper Grinders, Penne and Parmesan Dinners, Arancici, Zeppole, Fried Dough (Pizza Fritta), and the Holy Trinity of desserts - Cannoli, Eclair, and my beloved Sfogliatelle. 10 classic items, and they're all priced reasonably, most at $10 or under. I wrote an article yesterday about a drive-thru food truck event happening next month at the Bethlehem Fairgrounds, which is great for that segment of the food service industry, the food truck owners. This event is a great idea on a smaller-scale here by Amerigo Vespucci/ALC, great caterers who unfortunately cannot hold public events on a bigger scale yet. At Saturday's event, food will be available at the take-out window, or better yet, call ahead for curbside pickup ahead of time at 203-748-9956.
