Zombies are super popular these days, The Walking Dead is a huge comic book franchise with fans all over the globe and a television series that is coming to an end after a long, successful run. I am pretty sure the popularity of the lovable stumbling animated corpse will "live" on and on.

There is no doubt that most fans of the "zombie" genre would agree that George Romero is the father of the modern zombie-type flick with the iconic "Night of the Living Dead." Its place in the pantheon of cinematic animated corpse films is unquestioned and a staple for Halloween-watching fun each and every year, or anytime for that matter.

Well, if you are a fan of 'Night, then I have some news for you. My girlfriend, Jen, saw Mr. Romero in person a few years back at CT Horror Fest, and tipped me off to this special showing of the beloved film. The article she sent me was from The Patch, and details the special screening of the more-than-iconic 1968 movie. How does a live band, with an original live score to go along with the flick sound? Intriguing right?

The event is the work of a group called Boondocks Film Society and Movies, along with the Warner Theatre, and will feature NYC film-score artists Morricone Youth. It is a one-night-only screening of the George Romero classic "Night of the Living Dead" along with Morricone Youth performing through their own score for the movie. This whole concept is intriguing because, at the beginnings of film, there were accompanists at the theatre who would play the piano along with the silent film being shown, similar to this event. Maybe it is a bit of an homage to those early days of cinema.
