On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, the Danbury Police Department released a statement that read:

"On August 30, 2024, members of the Connecticut Department of Liquor Control along with members of the Danbury Police Special Investigations Division (SID) and Patrol Division, inspected nine area businesses to ensure their compliance with State of Connecticut liquor laws. The investigation began after the Danbury Police Department received a growing number of complaints related to these establishments."

Authorities inspected these 9 Hat City establishments:

  • La Esquina De Pio Pio, 1 Division St.
  • The Roxy, 40 Mill Plain Rd.
  • Molly Darcy’s, 39A Mill Plain Rd.
  • Square One, 24 Mill Plain Rd.
  • Paradise Bar, 40 Tamarack Ave.
  • La Canchita, 6 Delay St.
  • La Costenita, 2B Ives St.
  • La Estacion Five, 5 Ives St.
  • Copacabana, 12 Ives St.

When the review was complete, only two of the nine restaurants received violations. La Costenita was cited for operating without a patio permit, while The Roxy faced one count of selling to a minor (CGS 30-86). The city noted that the Connecticut Department of Liquor Control has submitted its investigation findings and "will be following up with possible enforcement action."

According to Allan F. Friedman Criminal Lawyer the violation of sale to a minor is very serious. Connecticut General Statute 30-86 says

"A violation of C.G.S. § 30-86 sale or delivery of alcohol to minors is a Class E felony punishable by up to eighteen months in jail and a fine up to $3500. For liquor license permittees and their employees and agents, a violation of C.G.S. § 30-86 sale or delivery of alcohol to minors is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine up to $2,000."

Greater Danbury Bobcat Sightings, Too Close for Comfort

This morning (4/28/21) on the Ethan and Lou Show we were discussing a viral video from North Carolina. In it, a couple was brutally attacked by a rabid bobcat but according to USA Today, they are going to be OK.

This sent me off on a tirade about bobcats because this happens to be one of my pet peeves. In the Greater-Danbury area, wildlife sightings are frequent and when one animal gets photographed, everyone piles on and says, yeah me too You saw a bear? I saw a bear!

I made the case that too many people are claiming to have seen bobcats recently, and with no proof. I said, look I know they are prevalent but they can't be around in the numbers that people will have you believe. Every Frank and Fran in the area says they saw one yesterday.

I said, if you saw a bobcat, prove it. It looks like I may have been underestimating the bobcats and the Ethan and Lou listeners because they did prove it and in a hurry. These are the Greater-Danbury Bobcat Sightings That are Too Close for Comfort.

7 of the Best Places to Get Delicious Nachos in the Greater Danbury Area

In my opinion, nachos are the height of indulgence. If you want comfort food, nachos always deliver. I've been thinking about them all week and I know where I get mine (Pippa's - Danbury) but we've heard my opinions plenty so we asked the listeners of the Ethan and Lou Show what they thought. These are some of answers we got texted to us on the I-95 Rock Mobile app chat feature.
