Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, Connecticut's two casinos, will reopen on June 1.

The two casinos, which are close to each other in Eastern Connecticut, worked together on a reopening plan with many safety protocols in place.

The casinos will be operating at reduced capacity. At least every other slot machine will be turned off. In some cases, 2 out of 3 slot machines will be turned off, with the third being open to provide social distancing. Both casinos will require employees and patrons to wear face masks. Hand sanitizing stations will be placed at multiple locations throughout the facilities, and patrons will be encouraged to sanitize frequently. There will be plexiglass up at table games and transactional locations. Poker rooms remain closed for now, as do both casinos' arenas and theaters.

There will be some dining options available. These will be grab and go, except for a couple of high-ceiling areas such as Tuscany in the middle of Mohegan Sun, which will have limited seating. Buffets remain closed for now.

Both casinos will be doing thermal scan temperature checks on both employees and patrons as they enter the building. Smoking will not be allowed indoors at Mohegan Sun, and in limited areas at Foxwoods. There is no valet parking currently available, and only CT residents will be allowed to stay in the hotels through Phase One.

Governor Lamont has expressed concern that the casinos were opening too early, earlier than even Las Vegas. "We made some progress working with our friends at the casinos," Lamont said in a press conference. "Not as much as I would have wanted, but progress." As the casinos are on sovereign land, they do not have to follow the state's Executive Orders, and shut down willingly when the pandemic broke out.
