On August 20, 1984, Mary Badaracco vanished from her home in Sherman. An article in the Hartford Courant dated August 2000, 16 years after her disappearance, tells the story of what might have happened to Badaracco.
The article includes hear-say stories about a rocky marriage, murder, and bribery. Yet, the day after her disappearance, all that was left on the kitchen counter were her car keys, a wedding ring, and her 1982 Chevrolet Cavalier parked in the driveway.
