A Delicious Journey From Connecticut To Scranton’s Waffle House
Are you the adventurous type? What's the furthest you ever drove for a unique breakfast or dinner? I recently made the drive to Scranton, Pennsylvania in order to eat at a place you cannot find anywhere in Connecticut or all of New England - Waffle House.
Did you know that the closest Waffle House to Connecticut is around two hours away? Did you know that it's a few miles off of I-84? My wife and I drove down to Oklahoma City and as part of our trip planning I wanted to stop at as many businesses and restaurants that we could that are not available around here. The first one that I thought of is Waffle House.

In 2025 you will find a Waffle House restaurant in 25 states across the US, but there are none in the Tri-State area, or anywhere in New England. 214 miles West of Danbury, Connecticut in the home of Dunder-Mifflin - Scranton, Pennsylvania, there are two. I went to the Waffle House off of 81, and it took less than 2 hours to get there.
The photo you see above is my smothered, covered, capped, and chunked hash browns as they were being prepared. Waffle House is the definition of a greasy spoon, there are no frills, it's pure road fuel. Why this company has decided not to expand into the land of egg & cheese, or Taylor Ham on a hard roll is beyond me. I couldn't wait any longer for a taste of my past, it was well worth the drive.
