Connecticut Named One of the Most Peaceful States in America – Do You Agree?
What are some words you think about when you hear people talk about Connecticut? Does calm come to mind? Peaceful? For me it doesn't, but I'm curious if others think so.
I came across an article from Far and Wide that spoke about the most peaceful states in the U.S. and I thought, "there's no way Connecticut can be on this list." We're next to the hustle and bustle of New York, we have busy cities ourselves, we stress about money, our taxes are so high - the list goes on and on.
I decided to take a look at what state was considered the most peaceful. Vermont was number 1 on that list. I understand this. It's one of the smallest states, people get to enjoy the outdoors and the mountains, it's a cute place to vacation and it seems all around peaceful there. When I saw that, I couldn't really disagree.

The next state to make the list was Maine followed by New Hampshire, Utah, Hawaii and Massachusetts. Number 7 on that list? Connecticut. The article goes on to say that we rank number 1 in the country for personal and residential safety. It also states that the we are 'fairly rural and quiet which is why we're so often ignored by our more glamourous neighbors.' When you see the bigger picture and look at our surrounding states, are you really going to choose Connecticut to take a trip to? I wouldn't.
I was also shocked to see Massachusetts sitting there right before us. I do not agree with that one. I'm not saying the state isn't pretty and that some parts aren't peaceful, but when you have a city like Boston in you, I would not deem it as "peaceful." Maybe stressful, but not peaceful.
The rest of the states to make the list were Minnesota, Washington, Rhode Island, Virginia, Oregon, Iowa, Idaho and New Jersey. I'm not sure I fully agree with this list, but that's okay. One that stuck out to me that I'm surprised didn't make the list was Montana. I feel like Montana is a peaceful place with iconic views all over their state.
