Fireworks Rules Leave Connecticut Out Of July 4th Rankings
The 4th of July is one of the biggest holidays here in the US, parades, fireworks, and cookouts will happen all around us, but a new study ranks Connecticut as one of the worst states in which to celebrate.

The 4th of July 2025 is Friday, and most of Connecticut will probably check out their town's fireworks, eat some grilled meats, and fall asleep early. While we sleep, the party celebrating America's independence will rage on in New York City and Boston. A new study has just been released ranking the USA's Best Places for 4th of July Celebrations, our neighbors made the rankings but nothing in Connecticut did, surprised?
According to WalletHub.com's Best & Worst Places for 4th of July Celebrations - 2025 Las Vegas is the best, New York City is #2, and LA is #3 in the rankings. Boston? #18. No one or nowhere else in New England made the 100 cities that were ranked.
Why Has Connecticut Been Left Out?
New England as a whole does not appreciate fireworks in the hands of regular citizens, every firework is banned in Massachusetts - The only US state to do so. Connecticut? We can light up sparklers and fountains, that's it. New Hampshire allows fireworks, but Portsmouth and Manchester didn't make WalletHub.com's study. Fireworks don't make the celebration, but thinking back on my youth, it sure made the parties more fun.
If I'm not mistaken, Connecticut has received rain or thunderstorms on the 4th of July for the past few years. Did that dampen the mood? Anytime a municipal fireworks display is postponed, the crowd thins.
