Choosing the right school for your kids is an impossible task for some, but it may be a little easier for us in Connecticut. A new study of States With the Best & Worst School Systems for 2024 has just listed Connecticut as one of the best in the country.

According to WalletHub.com, students in Connecticut's schools have the best ACT test scores in the country, 7.6% of Connecticut's public schools are in the Top 700 schools nationwide, and Connecticut has the fifth best pupil-to-teacher ratio in the US. Connecticut students have the fifth-highest share of received a 3 or higher on an AP exam, the lowest prevalence of illegal drugs on school property in the country, and is only 1 of 17 states that require regular audits of school safety. Overall out of 50 US States and DC, Connecticut's school systems ranked as the #2 best in all of the US for 2024.

Some of the metrics were percentage of Blue Ribbon Schools, graduation rates, dropout rates, test scores, ACT and SAT scores, bullying, incarceration, and disciplinary incidence rates, and access to instructional materials

WalletHub.com gave Connecticut's school systems an overall score of 67.06 out of 100, and we landed at #2 overall. Who beat us? Massachusetts, with an overall score of 74.36. Maryland, New Jersey, and Wisconsin rounded out the Top 5 Best. The worst school system in America for 2024? New Mexico landed at #51.
