Governor Lamont Issues Drought Advisory For Three Counties
You may have noticed that the leaves around here have put up a good fight at squeezing every moment of life out of the 2025 growing season in Connecticut, and now part of the state is under a Stage 2 Drought Advisory.

Governor Ned Lamont has announced that he has declared a Stage 2 Drought Advisory for Fairfield, Middlesex, and New Haven Counties in Connecticut due in part to the lack of rainfall we've received through this past Summer. Hopefully the rain that is moving through our state right now will moisten up the environment, it's been getting extremely dusy and the allergens in the air are making me suffer a bit more than usual this season.
What is a Stage 2 Drought Advisory, and How Can You Help?
The State of Connecticut's Drought Preparedness and Response Plan has established five levels with Stage 1 being the lowest up to Stage 5 - Extreme. Stage 1 is basically what we've ex[erienced in Connecticut during July and August, and now we've officially crossed into Stage 2 - Incipient Drought. According to my trusty search engine, Incipient is an adjective that means just the beginning, or just starting to be or happen.
How can you help Mother Nature restore Connecticut to the lush, colorful landscape that we've all come to love?
- Shut down your automatic outdoor sprinklers
- Minimize your water use and waste, fix that leaky faucet
- Keep an eye on your social media for municipal and local water suppliers.
And those restrictions have begun, according to nbcconnecticut.com Connecticut Water customers in Clinton, Madison, Old Saybrook, Guilford, Plymouth, and Westbrook have been advised to conserve this week.
