Comedian Sam Morril Says New York City is in the Throws of the Bubble Tea Era
Sam Morril is one of America's most popular comedians, with impressive success both on stage and in the podcast world. He’s had six televised stand-up specials, co-hosts the "We Might Be Drunk" podcast, appears regularly on "Bussin' with the Boys," and even co-hosted a limited-series sports podcast with Julian Edelman. Sam is bringing his act to New Haven on Wednesday, March 5th, at the College Street Music Hall.

With Sam in such high demand, we were thrilled to catch him for a few minutes during the Friday (2/21/25) edition of the I-95 Morning Show. Here’s our favorite moment from that conversation.
Lou: If I'm correct, you grew up in NYC. I saw the documentary when you came back from COVID, with comedians going back to the clubs and bouncing around the city. This Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special over the weekend, they did a great sketch about the transformation of New York City over the decades. It was like peep shows in the 70s, cocaine and Wall Street in the 80s, you're a New York guy. How would you frame this era?
Sam: "God, that's a good question. It's hard to tell when you're in it, but it's probably something related to people. You know, it may be the bubble tea era. I see too many bubble tea places. I'm walking around thinking, who is drinking this bubble tea? It's disgusting—it's just sugar with little gummies in it. You know?"
Check out the complete interview below. We also asked Sam what he thought of his buddy Julian Edelman on the Tom Brady roast. Morril gives advice to anyone hoping to be a comedian. Sam shares his favorite A&E reality TV moment.
