WalletHub just released its list of the best lake towns in America, and Connecticut’s Candlewood Lake didn’t make the cut — here’s why that’s a mistake.

According to WalletHub’s report, America’s best lake towns are spread across the map from Michigan to California — and somehow, not a single one is in Connecticut. That’s right, the Nutmeg State didn’t even crack the top 10, which means Candlewood Lake was left treading water while places like Traverse City, Michigan, and Folsom, California, floated to the top.

Here’s how the list shakes out:

1. Traverse City, Michigan
2. Folsom, California
3. Redmond, Washington
4. Mercer Island, Washington
5. Cornelius, North Carolina
6. Davidson, North Carolina
7. Kirkland, Washington
8. South Lake Tahoe, California
9. Highland Park, Illinois
10. Brookfield, Wisconsin

Traverse City took the top spot with its two Lake Michigan bays, vineyards, ski slopes, and a “four-season playground” reputation that makes it sound like the Disneyland of the Midwest. Folsom grabbed the runner-up spot — yes, the same Folsom Johnny Cash sang about — and Redmond landed third thanks to its mix of tech wealth, biking trails, and waterfront views.

Meanwhile, here in Connecticut, we’re over here like: “Hello? Candlewood Lake? The largest lake in the state? The one with year-round residents, marinas, and sunsets that look like a Bob Ross fever dream?”

Apparently, that wasn’t good enough — WalletHub didn’t even throw us an honorable mention. There are 46 towns on the full list, and not one of our Candlewood communities — Danbury, Brookfield, New Milford — made the cut.

I can’t decide whether to demand a recount or just keep quiet and let it be our little secret. Honestly, it’s already crowded enough out there on the lake.
