Known for their raw, no-frills approach to rock and roll, Buckcherry burst onto the scene in the late '90s with hits like Lit Up and solidified their place in rock history with the massive 2006 anthem Crazy Bitch.

Over the years, Buckcherry has released over nine studio albums and toured with major acts like Mötley Crüe, Papa Roach, and Kid Rock. Despite lineup changes and the ever-shifting rock landscape, the band has stayed true to its hard-hitting sound — a mix of gritty vocals, driving guitar riffs, and lyrics that pull no punches.

Now, Buckcherry is heading to College Street Music Hall in New Haven, Connecticut tonight (10/10/25), and they’re bringing their full-throttle energy with them.

Ahead of the show, we had the chance to sit down with frontman Josh Todd, and he didn’t disappoint. This was our favorite moment from that discussion.

Lou: There was a time period before Axl Rose reunited with Guns N' Roses, with the original lineup, and there was a lot of rumor online that you might have stepped into the Axl Rose role. Was any of that ever founded, true, or possible?

Josh: "No, maybe that was because we were working as a band — me, Duff, Slash, Matt, and Keith — at one point in time. But, that was only a month out of my life. We were rehearsing and writing songs, but it had nothing to do with Guns N' Roses."

Dave: Take us back to that moment in time though, Josh. You've performed with some of the best musicians in the world. To be in with legends like them, it must have been an incredible moment.

Josh: "Yeah, I mean, definitely rock and roll fantasies come true. You know, I think my biggest one — we did four shows with AC/DC, and that was pretty amazing. Then, we got to meet them after the last show. We played Madison Square Garden with them, it was amazing. We got to go up in the dressing room and hang out with them. The best part about them is they're super humble and sweet. They would just talk about anything and let us take pictures and hang out. It was like one of the best moments of my career, for sure. I got to sit on the couch and just drink tea and talk with Angus. That was insane, you know? Because I truly believe that they're the best hard rock band of all time, you know? It was really an amazing moment for me, for sure."

Lou: That's wild because you sort of have that similar energy in that band, and at their age, to still have that stage presence and energy to go-go-go... I mean, you're probably one of the only people on planet Earth that can appreciate how hard they're working up there.

Josh: "You know, I've got to say, the reason why I like them the most is because they just know that they're the real deal and they're very comfortable in their role, and they are very kind. They're like, most of the time when you play with an act that big and you're on an arena tour, the headliner will squash you. They'll squash the sound, they'll only allow you to use so many dB (decibels) as far as the sound level you can use to put your show on. So that when they come out on stage, they're louder, they're bigger, and they show up bigger. AC/DC wasn't like that. They were like, 'You guys got full reign of all sound, do whatever you want. Make it sound as great as you guys want it, and have fun.' Their crew was really gracious to us and cool, and it just taught me a lot on how to act with other bands, if we were ever to be in that position. And, it meant a lot to me, and I'll never forget that."

Lou: Over the years, we've interviewed hundreds of musicians, and I've never heard anybody say that. That is great insight, man. That actually happens out there?

Josh: "Oh yeah, that happens all the time. I can go down the list, but I don't want to take people's inventory because that is just so... it's actually the norm."
