Bassist Ian Hill of Judas Priest Says Nice Things About Connecticut In Interview
They have been rocking for the past 50 years and are still going strong, it's Judas Priest and they are kicking off their "50 Heavy Metal Years" Tour right here in Connecticut this week. Rob Halford and the boys will be in Wallingford at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre on Thursday, October 13th.
I had the absolute pleasure of having a few minutes on a Zoom call with Judas Priest Bassist Ian Hill. A very cool gentleman who was gracious and pleasant to this hayseed from Kansas. It was my first real interview with a rock star of his type of status. I was a nervous wreck and didn't want to screw it all up too badly, thankfully Ian made it super easy and fun.
I only had five to ten minutes with him and I used every second I could, meaning the whole 10 minutes. After looking back and listening to the audio and watching the video, I learned a ton and wished I could have had more time with him and asked better questions. All good, he was a delight and had some nice things to say about Connecticut that is for sure.
My first question was, "what's it like being a rock star?"...
I also asked him what are some of the differences between the U. K. and the United States and he actually spent a ton of time in New Mexico where his ex-wife's mom lived. Also, things in the U. K. tend to often times be a pain in the ass...
He made sure that we didn't venture into politics when things "being a pain in the ass" was brought up, and it made me chuckle...
The next question was about the "bizarre fan interactions", and he shared this about "super fans" and how they travel around to watch them wherever they go, including one from Japan...
Next, we talked about astrology...
Then we talked about Connecticut and the first things he thinks of about the nutmeg state...
We wanted to ask about fictional characters and who he would like to hang out with, his answer was very cool...
To wrap it up, a brief sports discussion...
It was an absolute pleasure talking to him, he was down-to-earth and had a great sense of humor. Click right here to look at their tour dates, my thanks to Chipster PR for the interview opportunity. It was probably the least professional interview any of us in the building could have done, but it was fun, and here is the whole thing...
Not sure yet if I will attach the video zoom, still thinking about it. Anyway, thanks for hanging out with me, here is a link to all of my other articles, they are amazing and it is imperative that you read every single one of them. Gotta go write another article, see you again real soon.
