Multiple agencies were dispatched, including Sherman, New Fairfield, Brookfield, Danbury, and Newtown's Underwater Dive Team. Unfortunately, the swimmer has not been found yet.

Authorities are vehemently asking boaters to avoid the "Chicken Rock" area of the lake so as not to disturb the search still in progress. An eyewitness had stated the male individual was attempting to swim to a nearby boat when he became distressed. The location of the incident is within Allen's Cove, the Northwest arm of Candlewood that extends into Sherman.

When my wife and I returned to our slip at the New Fairfield Town docks around 10 p.m. last evening, emergency vehicles were on standby with their engines still running. This incident is the latest in what has been an unfortunate season thus far on Candlewood Lake. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
