A Rare Planet Parade Will Happen in Connecticut Skies This Friday
I love the sky. It completely fascinates me and I love getting to witness rare events that we won't see for quite a while. We've seen rare moons, eclipses, all different kinds of astronomical events. It looks like we're going to be able to witness another one that's coming this Friday.
This one really caught my eye because I've never heard of it before. We will be able to witness a "planet parade" in the night sky on February 28. What is a planet parade you ask? I was wondering the same thing. It is when seven of the planets in our solar system appear in a line in the night sky. There are times where we are able to see 4 planets, but to see 7 calls for a rare event that will not happen again until 2040, according to The Economic Times.

It looks like the best time to visibly see the planets is right after sunset. According to NASA, five planets will be visible without any optical aid. You will be able to see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. To see Neptune and Uranus, you will need high-powered binoculars or you will need a telescope.
This is a really cool event. I hope we remember to look up and I really hope we're all able to see it. Even though planet parades aren't too rare, the addition of Mercury and Venus to this lineup makes it a rare occurrence and a very exciting one to say the least.
If you remember on Friday, snap some pictures and send it to our mobile app. I would love to see what you end up catching.
