Connecticut Announces Summer Enrichment Program for College Undergrads
Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has just announced that a newly created community outreach program, intended to recruit 500 Connecticut college undergrads to teach Summer enrichment programs to K-12 students, is now accepting applications.
The program is called Connecticut College Corps and the hope is that it will benefit K-12 students with much-needed social interaction and help bring disengaged students back to an in-person learning environment.

All undergrad students who attend Connecticut Colleges and Universities, and also Connecticut undergrads who attend out of state schools are eligible to participate. If you're among the 500 chosen to teach, you will receive one week of specialized training prior to being matched to a Summer Enrichment Program, which will then be held all across the state.
According to the overview of the program, it will run for 7 weeks during this summer and all Corp members who complete the program will receive a healthy stipend of $4,500.
Some of the proposed courses and enrichment activities that are planned for the Connecticut College Corps are: Sports, Physical Activity, Physical Education, Music, Visual and Performing Arts, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Field Trips, Career and College Exploration, Cooking, Food and Nutrition, and Outdoor Education and Activities.
In the statement, Governor Lamont said:
Thousands of students have had their school years significantly disrupted from the pandemic and it is critical that we help them have a stimulating Summer and an engaging educational experience. Our administration the Connecticut College Corps as a way to provide k-12 students with much needed Summer enrichment opportunities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, while at the same time giving college students experiences that will improve their career opportunities
