According to a report from Fox 61 News, the collision happened when a tractor-trailer crossed the tracks that are for the train service from Waterbury to Naugatuck on Monday morning (10/17). When the Waterbury Police Department arrived, they treated several passengers with minor injuries including the driver of the tractor-trailer, who they attempted to treat but he refused.

The MTA (Metro Transit Authority) sent out a tweet with service delayed information due to the accident.

Of course, an incident/accident like this is going to have a ripple effect and other delays were bound to happen, here is more from the Metro-North Railroad Twitter account.

The Metro Transit Authority said that the tractor-trailer was actually involved in another accident just before the accident with the train took place. Apparently, after the initial accident, he parked the truck not far from the incident on the train tracks, just off the road, definitely not a good place to put it at all. He noticed the train coming, but he could not move it. Thankfully there were no fatalities when clearly, this could have been way more devastating to life and limb than it was.

In a statement to Fox 61, Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi said:

"Our thoughts are with the passengers who were on board the train and we appreciate the rapid response of Waterbury EMTs and police along with the MTAPD. Thankfully injuries appear to be minor,"  "Metro-North Railroad crews are responding to dislodge the truck from underneath the train, and then to restore service between Waterbury and Beacon Falls as quickly as possible. In the meantime, the railroad is arranging substitute bus service for passengers at affected stations. Damage to the train and crossing equipment appears to be minimal,"

It could have been much worse and we are thankful that it wasn't. Thank you all for hanging out with me and checking out my other articles you simply cannot live without reading by clicking or tapping right here, including one about one of the creepiest abandoned places in Connecticut.
