You’ve Moved Away From CT but You’re Back for a Visit: What’s the First Thing You Want to Eat?
Thanks to Christine Hickling, the administrator of the 'I Grew Up in Connecticut' FB page, for this article idea. Connecticut boasts a vibrant food scene that’s rich in flavors and traditions. When you’re back in the state, certain dishes simply can’t be missed.
Connecticut is a hotbed of local flavors, including a local take on the lobster roll, collegiate-level ice cream and coal-fired, clam-topped pizzas that lure fans from around the world to the Nutmeg State. But, that's just a small representation of the delicasies that former Connecticut residents crave when they return to visit. I posed the following question on my Facebook page:
'You've moved out of Connecticut but you're back for a visit. What is the first thing you want to eat?'
Personally I would miss Connecticut's seafood like buttery lobster rolls. creamy clam chowder and the legendary seafood shacks on the southern shoreline and, I would immediately drive on over to Ferris Acres Creamery in Newtown for an ice cream cone!! I would also drive to the Whitehorse Country Pub in New Preston for their Chicken Pot Pie and an Olde Speckled Hen on tap!!
