Contrary to popular belief, having a televised visit from a celebrity chef doesn't always guarantee that the food in the restaurant is superior. I've gone to quite a few places that were influencer/celebrity endorsed and have been served slop. Gordon Ramsey, I'm talking to you. But one Guy who has retained that influence is Guy Fieri.

He's visited Connecticut quite a few times over the years, Stamford most recently, but which ones of his choices for 'Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives' is the best out of Guy's picks?

According to dinersdriveinsdivelocations.com, Guy Fieri has highlighted 12 Connecticut restaurants on his show. They are:

  • Black Duck Cafe - Westport
  • Carbo's Southside Deli - Stamford
  • Corey's Catsup and Mustard - Manchester
  • Grigg Street Pizza - Greenwich
  • Il Pastaficio - Greenwich
  • Kouzina Greek Taverna and Bar - Stamford
  • Merritt Canteen - Bridgeport
  • O'Rourke's Diner - Middletown
  • Stamford Diner - Stamford
  • Super Duper Weenie - Fairfield
  • Valencia Luncheria - Norwalk
  • Wilson's Holy Smoke BBQ - Fairfield

It's a pretty diverse list, with bbq, hot dog stands, pasta, Greek, and classic diners, so how do you choose a best out of 12? Delish.com has, and their choice for the best 'Diners, Drive-ins, and Dive' Restaurant in Connecticut is Fairfield's Super Duper Weenie.

According to delish.com - "Super Duper Weenie is exactly as it sounds, and we put it at top of our list for DDD restaurants in Connecticut. While the Fairfield restaurant seems modest, it isn't your average hot dog stand."

They go on to mention that Guy tried Super Duper Weenie's New Englander hot dog, which does look good, but come on delish.com, have you actually been to Black Duck? I believe your choice would change.

I believe that Guy Fieri should wander a bit outside of Fairfield County, 10 out of 12 visits Guy? You have heard of New Haven, Danbury, and Waterbury, right?

Westport Hidden Gem: The Community Mural Project

We chose Westport to finish off our Christmas shopping, and while the stores and boutiques were posh, what really caught my eye was a new community mural project that was just completed by some talented Westport families and their kids.
