I asked this question on my FB page a couple of weeks back. "Where Can You Find the Best Grinders in Greater Danbury?" My research on this mouth-watering subject included bestthingsct.com, ctpost.com, yelp.com, and the individuals who responded to my BEST GRINDERS question.

I am not ashamed to tell you I am a mega sandwich fan! Meats, cheeses, veggies, and condiments between two pieces of bread, hard roll, or grinder roll, especially from my favorite deli, give me great pleasure. First up, my FB Page poll's results ask, "Where Can You Find the Best Grinders in Greater Danbury?"

  1. Ethan CareyNew Fairfield Food Center...
  2. Judy P. - New Fairfield Food Center...
  3. John R. - That's funny; I ask here in Florida for a grinder. They looked at me like I had two heads! They're called Subs only here. By the way. Johnny's(New Fairfield Food Center) has the best grinders!
  4. Kurt S. I'm hungry. What if you and I tour a few places and broadcast the results over 50,000 watts? We can call it "Eat me!"
  5. Ron K. - Genoa Deli in Ridgefield
  6. Debra J. - Nardelli Grinder Shop (Several Locations)
  7. Mike S. - Lucia's Salumeria in Newtown makes a KILLER Italian Sub!
  8. Jessica C. - Not the greater Danbury, but Carbone's Market in Torrington is worth the drive...subs the size of a 2-liter bottle of soda.
  9. MJ V. - Lou's next to Bagleman on Mill Plain is excellent!
  10. Bob S. - Jersey Mike's (Federal Road across from Costco)
  11. Thomas D. - John's Pizza (40 1/2 Padanaram Road)
  12. Barbi R. - Biksbees in Bethel

Just for the record, my go-to sandwich from the New Fairfield Food Center is Boar's Head Honey Turkey on a hard roll with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions, Russian dressing, and salt & pepper.

The delis mentioned in this article were taken from recent online articles and polls asking, "Which deli is your favorite?" I'm aware there are many excellent delis throughout Connecticut, just to name a few

  1. Carbone's Market - Torrington
  2. Rein's New York Style Deli - Vernon
  3. Angel's Deli - Brookfield
  4. Germantown Deli - Danbury
  5. Franco's Deli & Pizza - Danbury
  6. Kapsteins Corner Deli - Danbury
  7. New Fairfield Food Center Deli
