Connecticut has a highly underrated food landscape. You can step outside, throw a rock and probably hit a place that would put out-of-state restaurants to shame. But what is our cult-favorite bucket list cuisine champ?

You might be surprised by the answer. Love Food recently put out their list of the "Cult-Favorite Restaurant in Every State You Need to Add to Your Bucket List" article. In New York, they chose Katz's Deli in NYC. In New Jersey, it was Top's Diner in East Newark. The winner in the Constitution State?

They chose Mystic Pizza in Mystic, CT, writing:

You might assume this beloved pizza parlor is named in tribute to the 1980s movie starring Julia Roberts, but it actually inspired it. Screenwriter Amy Jones ate here, loved both the pizza and the name, and wrote the whole script around it; the restaurant likes to joke about its 'pizza that made the movie famous.' It is, indeed, really great pizza: a crust with a little bite and just the right amount of toppings. No wonder folks still flock here for a piece of the pie.

If I may, I SAID IF I MAY!

I've been there and I will say Mystic Pizza is a fine and fun place to visit and eat. However, you're really there to take in the vibe of a classic movie set. I think everyone from New England should visit Mystic Pizza, at least once but are we being real here? Connecticut's national reputation is so oversimplified when it comes to food. We are so much more than Mystic, New Haven Pizza and steamed cheeseburgers.

All that said, love ya Mystic. I truly love you.
