When it comes to retirement, do you think of Connecticut? I feel like it's definitely an expensive place to retire, but if you have the funds, it can definitely be relaxing. Many people's dream of retirement are different. Some want to go to the muggy weather of Florida, some want the West Coast, the mountains, and some want a little bit of both.

I feel like Connecticut is a good place to come if you want to split your time. Spend the summers here and the winters in a place like Florida. New England in general is also very unique. It is different than any other part of the country. I came across a list of places that were deemed best places to retire in New England.

Wallingford Named Best Place to Retire in New England

The website Kiplinger put together a list of the best places to retire in New England and to my surprise, Wallingford was number 1 on that list. A few highlights about Wallingford that were mentioned was that it's a cozy town with excellent healthcare options, hearing and vision clinics and fitness classes as well as multiple other activities.

Aside from health-related things, there are also social things to do. There are multiple different dining options and local hotspots in Wallingford. They also have Center Street Brewing Company, New England Cider Company, Paradise Hills Vineyard and Winery and Gouveia Vineyard. You also have the option to catch a show at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre.

Wallingford isn't the first place on my list that I would think of when I think of retirement, but their point is that there's a lot of stuff to do if need be. The other places to make the list were Portland, Maine, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Laconia, New Hampshire, Providence, Rhode Island and Burlington, Vermont.
